After watching the recent interview on Charlotte Today, Steve Shak, former Charlotte Eagles star player and long time Be There Dad supporter, sent me the following email. I was immediately touched. His message is simple, but it captures the essence of Be There Dad.
Jeff,
Thanks for including me on these emails. I wanted to send you a quick word of encouragement because I’m sure there are many folks like me who read through your newsletter from time to time and are impacted but never take the time to let you know.
So, I was reading through your email and watched the video of you on the Charlotte Today Show on Monday night. My kids asked me if I could take them to school earlier in the day before they went to bed and I said, “No guys, dad has to work in the morning.”
When I watched your video it challenged me. I looked at my schedule and realized I didn’t have any important meetings in the morning and although it might make me feel behind there aren’t many Tuesday mornings I have open where I can take my kids to school. I decided to do that and when they woke up in the morning and saw me still at home they asked me if I was going to take them to school.
When I said “yes!” it pumped some extra energy into their morning. They were so excited to have me do that and loved showing me their rooms and around the school (I actually got out of the car and walked them in). They later told me it was the highlight of their day.
Just wanted to say thanks!
